Why Your Weed Does Not Match the Menu Description

Ever felt like the description at the shop did not match what you experienced? You are not alone.

The gap between marketing descriptions and actual experience is one of the biggest pain points in the botanical world. There are several reasons why this disconnect exists.

First, phenotypic variation. Even within the same named cultivar, different growing conditions, harvest times, and curing methods can produce wildly different chemical profiles. Two batches of Blue Dream from different growers may share almost nothing in common beyond the name.

Second, the naming problem. There is no universal registry for cultivar names. Anyone can call anything Blue Dream. Without genetic verification, strain names are essentially honour-system labels.

Third, subjective experience. Even when the chemical profile is consistent, individual differences in endocannabinoid receptor density, tolerance, metabolism, and current state mean that the same cultivar produces different effects for different people.

This is precisely why Leaf ID focuses on personal observation over labels. Your experience is the most reliable data point you have.
